Get Involved with WCAB

WCAB depends on your energy, creativity and enthusiasm. There are several ways for you to get involved and we look forward to working with you soon.

  • Attend WCAB events! Your involvement helps WCAB to thrive.
  • Organize a WCAB event! Contact Bridget O'Connor with your ideas for an event. Whether you are interested in organizing a community service day, a networking event or a trip to the opera, we want to hear from you!
  • Join the WCAB board! Contact WCAB President Jamie Scarborough for more information.
  • Join the Wellesley Alumnae Online Community.  This online community is your virtual gateway into the Wellesley network. It provides you with a suite of tools which will connect you with alumnae around the world. The online community empowers and invites you to reach out to alumnae with shared experiences and common thoughts.

Fabulous Women  Wanted!

WCAB is in the process of building our leadership team for the 2011-13 term and we need you! For more information, or to express your interest, please contact Jamie Scarborough at presidents@wellesleyboston.org

  • VP Membership: Connect with your inner MBA. If you have experience and/or interest in marketing - esp. in acquiring and retaining customer programs and project management, we could use your help creating and executing simple, strategic targeted marketing programs for the Club. Underleveraged resources exist. Time commitment: avg. 1-2 hours per week, participation in key Board meetings and events.

  • Secretary: Do you hate clutter, boxes of paper, and messy desks? So do we. WCAB needs a highly organized, tech savvy go-getter who will work with the club president and Board to create and maintain an online system for all club documents: bylaws, board and member lists, club positions, take and distribute minutes from board meetings, volunteer needs, evites, etc. Many of the documents exist, they just need updating and online organization. Time commitment: avg. 1 -2 hours per week, attendance at Board meetings.

  • Newsletter Editor: Looking for a way to get published? Here's your chance! Make your byline a reality as you manage the production process of a total of four newsletters (two September and two January) over the course of two years. Project management skills key, a process exists, and training is available. So if you want to dust off/try out some project management, English, journalism, or web and/or graphic design skills please let us know. Time commitment: 20 hours spread over two months and participation in Board meetings.

  • RSVP Manager: Want to always be in the know? You will always be the first to know who's coming to an event as you work with the Programming Team to manage the online RSVP. Training available. Time commitment: avg. 1 hour per week. All work can be done online at home.

  • E-Blast Coordinator(s): Communication is KEY and WCAB events would not be as successful as they are without the e-blasts. (E-Blasts are the emails WCAB sends out on the 1st and 15th of each month that advertise club happenings.) Work with the Board to consolidate information that goes into blasts. There is a system in place, and the workload is very manageable. Time commitment: avg. 1 hour every two weeks. All work can be done online at home.

  • ALANA Chair: Help us celebrate diversity! Need a highly organized, self-motivated ALANA alumna(e) to initiate programs to connect the Boston ALANA community. Work involves initiating and executing 2 -3 ALANA events per year, identifying and coordinating with existing programs at Wellesley and WCAB, and connecting ALANA alums - esp. via social media. Time commitment: time required to plan, coordinate, and execute ALANA events and participation in key Board meetings and events

  • Community Service Chair: Is social responsibility your passion? WCAB is looking for an energetic, organized alumna to lead fellow community service committee members to plan volunteer projects for local alumnae in the Boston area. Time commitment: work with Programming committee to plan, advertise, and execute 2 - 4 events per year, and events participation.

  • Faculty Lunch Chair:  Do you lunch? Looking for a venue that provides brain food as well? We need you to help make it happen. Work with the Programming Team and Wellesley club staff to coordinate lunches with alumnae and faculty. Target: one fall and one spring lunch that are typically held during a weekday at the College Club. Time commitment: time required to plan and execute the event(s).

  • Young Alumnae Chair:  Did you graduate in the past five years? We need a highly organized, enthusiastic recent graduate to initiate programs to connect recent graduates in the Boston area with WCAB, esp. via social media. Time commitment: work with Programming committee to plan, advertise, and execute 4 - 5 events per year, and Board meeting & events participation.
